FN DESIGNS Presents:
Solo art exhibition by Liz Ramos-Prado
Opening Night, 14th September 2015, 6pm-9pm
Ramos-Prado’s figurative works evolves around an exploration of female identity, beauty and emotions. It consists mostly of stylized portraits of women who confront the viewer with a direct gaze, as if intending to establish a conversation or elicit a reaction. It is a look that offers the spectator a window into an emotional state and the world it inhabits; a window that, at the same time, invites us to become part of this imagined domain and make it our own.
The persistent and at times bold regard of a woman is at the core of the connection between her works and the observer. These women inhabit ethereal spaces – sometimes shared with other creatures and suffused with a touch of surrealism.
At times vulnerable, at others strong or bemused, her works uses countenance and dreamlike imagery to explore the mind’s landscape. Bursts of contrasting colour invade a predominantly monochromatic palette, emphasising the emotive fabric underpinning each work.
This body of work encompasses a variety of different materials, including paper, wood and cardboard, always connected by the use of acrylics, colored pencils and charcoal, which allows the artist to attain a soft and detailed quality she wishes to achieve in each piece.
